Week 8: Review

This week I found an interesting poster of site-specific searches for google. I never knew about these so check them out!

Week 7: Review

Voices in Writing link
Here's a funny joke about writing! I have to admit that I have trouble with writing in active voice all the time. I usually forget and I end up writing in passive voice. This usually makes my story longer than it needs to be. Maybe I'll consider writing my next story in a passive-aggressive voice.

Week 6 Review

Creativity = Hard work link

I realized this week that creativity includes a lot of hard work. I think when people think about creativity, they think of it as something that comes naturally to people and that it is something that requires no effort. This may be true in some cases but true creativity requires a lot of hard work. I don't necessarily believe that it's something that you are born with and that you can't improve it. I used to believe that I wasn't a creative person, but I think that anyone can become creative if they put their mind to it.

Week 5 Review

Success is Inspiration link
I think we often take someone else's success as personal failure but we should really be happy for other people's success. Their success should inspire us to do more instead of letting it bring us down. We often measure ourselves by other people's successes which is something I try to avoid. So this week, this meme really stood out to me.

Week 4: Review

Here's my favorite meme from this week's announcements! This is another growth mindset challenge and I think I should pursue this more often. I tend to play things on the safe side and continue to do things that are comfortable for me. However, it's extremely important to take risks in your life or you will become complacent and never really grow.

Week 3: Review

Literally show your thinking link

This lightens the mood after a rough week. It's really silly but also clever. I feel like I do this often on tests. Sometimes, I read into the question too much or take it too literally and then I write an answer that is a bit ridiculous. I guess that just goes to show what test anxiety can do to you. I wonder if this kid wrote this intentionally to be funny or if he was serious! Maybe the question should of been worded better. It could of been an honest mistake.

Week 2 Review: Don't Wait

Perfection online source
This one was the first picture I came across while looking at this week's announcements and I absolutely love it. I am guilty of always looking for perfection. Sometimes I can't proceed if things are not perfect. I find this to be such a flaw sometimes because it's almost impossible to anything perfectly right the first time. You can never find the true potential of your work if you just do it once, thinking that the first time is as good as it will ever get. So I think it was really important for me to read this great quote by Margaret Atwood to remind myself that if I wait for something to be perfect, I will never get anything done. The truth is that 100% perfection probably doesn't really come around too often.

I found myself waiting a lot to write my storytelling post this week because I just couldn't figure out what the perfect start was. Once I got to writing, the ideas came to me and I changed things up as I went.

Week 1 Review

Here's my favorite announcement I found during week 1's review.

Knowledge is Power link to announcement

I grew up hearing this statement a lot from my parents. They really valued education. More than wealth or status, knowledge is always more powerful.
